Glass

General Information

When considered a raw material, glass (glasses) is a collective term for an almost incomprehensible number of materials with a wide variety of compositions as an amorphous, non-crystalline solid.
However, far greater than the variety of different types is the number of uses. Highly challenging applications for special glass such as the glass panels of the now very popular plasma TV screens joined the typical areas of application such as glass for windows or bottles long ago.
Frits are a widely-used basic component for coatings for ceramic parts and are manufactured in large quantities. The established production standard for frits is a particle size of about 45 µm or approx. 16,900 mesh/cm2 screening surface. Here, an upper limit of up to approx. 3 mass-% sieving residue is common. In some areas, the trend is moving toward higher particle size standards. Finer components in the range of 32-25 µm and less are required for ever better print quality for screen print pastes or web-fed printing processes.

CGS Fluidized Bed Jet Mill

The combination of an air jet mill and a dynamic air classifier represents perfection in fine dry grinding. Even the highest end finenesses are reproducible. Glass powder produced on the CGS Fluidized Bed Jet Mill with a maximum particle size of 11 micrometers (d50 = approx. 2.3 µm) is used, for example, in the manufacture of plasma displays, namely primarily for the so-called protective layer.
Machines and plant systems entirely lined with ceramic ensure absolutely pure, contamination-free product quality.

CFS/HD-S High-efficiency Fine Classifier

For the production of especially fine product qualities, CONDUX CFS/HD-S High-performance Fine Classifiers are used in conjunction with upstream grinding systems. Both the separation of particles that are too coarse and removal of undesired amounts of fine material are possible applications for these machines.
Thanks to maximum predispersion of the product, the attainable degree of separation and potential yield are maximized.
