Using the CUM Universal Mill, the granulated sugar required for the product formulation is ground into powdered sugar. In the so-called blast mill mode, crushing is carried out with a high air flow rate. The productive efficiency of the grinding system and the gentle product handling are the outstanding advantages of the CUM Universal Mill. Depending on the desired end fineness, models with capacities of from 250 to 15,000 kg h-1 are available. Various explosion-proof models safeguard the grinding plant against the danger of a dust explosion. For directly subsequent conditioning of the finely-ground powdered sugar, large-scale sugar tanks, which can be integrated into the grinding plant, are available for intermediate storage.
Some special applications for powdered sugar require product qualities with the maximum grinding fineness. Thanks to the integrated classifier wheel, achieving such qualities is no problem with the CSM Classifier Mill. Grinding finenesses of down to 5 µm (d90) can be produced with this technology. Due to the high air flow rate in the mill, correspondingly gentle processing of the product at a low temperature is guaranteed.
The CHM Hammer Mill is used for the production of coarser sugar. This machine can achieve product finenesses of 300 – 500 µm, i.e. coarser than commercially-available powdered sugar, but finer than the highest quality granulated sugar. And it does it with a low dust content, which is problematic for some applications. Machine sizes are available for maximum throughput rates – of course also in an explosion-proof design!
