Engineering Manager


  • Plans and formulates engineering program and organizes project staff according to project requirements.
  • Assigns project personnel to specific phases or aspects of project such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, and product testing.
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design, test problems and release dates for production jobs.
  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases; maintains the engineering change system.
  • Controls costs within limitations of project budget.
  • Administers and enforces company policies.
  • Upon request by sales, provides technical assistance in the development of proposals.
  • Maintain an Engineering Work Request (EWR) system that provides a vehicle for other departments to request work to be performed by the department. The system also provides a means to request timely corrective action on existing jobs.
  • Keeps department apprised of new technology and implements this technology in the department,(e.g. computer hardware and software, technical literature, vendor seminars).
  • Manages the maintenance of the part number database and the associated part description dictionary.
  • Chairs periodic Engineering group meetings to improve department performance and check group morale.
  • Responsible for service manuals for specific departments.
  • Communicates with the engineering departments of affiliated companies.


  • Master's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Electrical Engineering experience a plus.
  • Professional Engineer License preferred but not required.
  • Ability to travel 20-30% and a current passport or the ability to obtain a passport upon hire.
